Dear Friends and Neighbours,
Please forward this message to all of your neighbours and friends.
We are holding a meeting on Wednesday at 7pm to decide whether we should repeat last year’s successful Carols on the Quay and a Dinner before Christmas to ‘celebrate’ our progress and achievements. Below I have summarised the position on outstanding action points from our last meeting, and this Wednesday’s meeting agenda. Attached are the previous meeting’s minutes. Please support us by attending on Wednesday and tell us which social events we should hold this winter. Then, stay on and take part in the quiz for fun (and bottle of wine for winners, of course).
Actions still Outstanding
Speeding on Terra Nova Way: another review of the speed cushions on Terra Nova Way was to be implemented. We are led to believe that the review is yet to be commissioned.
Skatepark: residents have not been consulted on changes to the childrens’ park on Paget Terrace. It is assumed that this project is dormant – until residents are consulted.
Tree felling: residents were concerned that more trees will be felled to provide better views for Penarth Heights residents and others. It was agreed at the last meeting by the residents that no trees should be felled for aesthetic reasons. Gwyn Roberts stated that this was not the case and promised to forward three different reports justifying the removal of trees. When received, these reports will be shared with the residents.
Yellow lines on Penarth Portway. The yellow lines agreed by the residents with the VoG last year have still not been painted. At our AGM Gwyn asserted that the VoG employee’s statement that week that it was a very low priority for them, was not correct and the painting would go ahead…
Lighting of Zig-Zag path: we have been promised that this will be installed this year – hopefully before the days become much shorter. Also outstanding for the zig-zag bends are the seating, tree planting, and art installations. The lighting is a key priority.
New Neighbourhood Concerns – Kept in the Dark
There has been a loss of power for the street lights on Terra Nova and Penarth Portway. Now there appears to be a failure of power to street lights around the outer basin of the marina. We are informed by VoG that this is due to a power failure by the electricity company and is not a VoG cost-cutting initiative. The VoG advise that the electric supply company is working to reconnect all neighbourhood street lights.
